Applications

  • Coal Washing Plants: Primary dense medium separation for run-of-mine coal.

  • Jig Plant Upgrades: Reprocessing jig middlings and coarse clean coal to increase yield.

  • High-Sulfur Coal Beneficiation: Efficient removal of pyritic sulfur and ash.

  • Mineral Processing: Can be adapted for other dense medium separation applications in the mining industry.

Working Principle

The Two-Product Heavy Medium Hydrocyclone uses centrifugal force to separate coal from gangue based on density differences. A suspension of magnetite (or other heavy medium) is mixed with raw coal and fed tangentially into the cyclone. Denser particles (reject) move toward the wall and exit through the underflow, while lighter particles (clean coal) move toward the core and exit through the overflow.
